GreyScale Gorilla

Nick over at GreyScale Gorilla has had some great tutorials this week for Cinema 4D.  He has a great tutorial on how to do the inception totem with Cinema 4D and also a tutorial on Fog in CS tools for Cinema 4D. Check out the preview for both of them below!

AE Tuts

Robert Legar did a good tutorial over at AE Tuts using music, Particular 2 and After Effects.  It uses the keyframes from a audio waveform to drive a particular layer.  Check out the preview below.

Fuel Your Motionography

Timmy Allen did a great article over at Fuel Your Motionography talking about some great examples of compositing graphics onto video footage and talks briefly about how to get involved in the technique. Check out the article!

GreyScale Gorilla

It’s another Five Second Project from GreyScale Gorilla, and another chance to create something great for your showreel.  This time the theme is “Nude No More”  If you haven’t seen GreyScale Gorilla’s Five Second Projects, then basically it’s a chance to make something cool looking for your showreel, but you have to make sure it’s no more than 5 seconds.  Have a look at the video below and hear the Gorilla himself talk about it.

CG Tuts

CG Tuts had some great articles this week, the first one is how to composite a 3D object into video footage using Boujou, Maya and After Effects.  Check out the preview below.

The second article is a nice article for those people wanting to create an animated movie but aren’t sure what they might need to do to achieve that. The post gives a good overview of everything that happens from the start to the end.

Sure Target for Cinema 4D

I discovered a great link via Hyploy’s website to Ryan Ragle’s Sure Target for Cinema 4D.  This looks pretty good, considering how good Sure Target is for After Effects, i would definitely go and check out this plugin for Cinema 4D.

Thrausi Transitions

I found a great set of transitions for Cinema 4D this week called Thrausi Transitions, The basically use the mograph module for Cinema 4D and some effectors.  They were originally created by Mike Udin but the tutorial has also been translated into english.  Check out the preview of the transitions below.

Fuel Your Motionography

I found a great introduction to the basics of using a camera and what kind of shots there are this week from Fuel Your Motionography.  Knowing your camera and what it can do is something that is very important to motiongraphers and videoographers alike.  This is the second part of an introduction to knowing your camera but it is definitely worth checking out the first part too!

CG Tuts

Envato’s CG Tuts posted a nice tutorial about making an animated logo with Cinema 4D and After Effects.  If your wanting to learn Cinema 4D then go check this tutorial out.

AE Tuts

Another one from Envato, AE Tuts had a great tutorial for After Effects on how to use some simple solids, camera movements and a few effects to create a cool looking animation, check out the preview below.

Also on AE Tuts, Topher Welsh presented a great round up of Motion Graphics Meetups, if your interested in Motion Graphics then definitely check out the list to see if there are any meetups near yourself.

Greyscale Gorilla

As always, Nick Vegas from Greyscale Gorilla presents another great tutorial, this time it’s about using the Tracer object in Cinema 4D, check out the preview image above.  If you want to find out how to use the Tracer Object, go visit his blog or check out the video below.

Beeple

One of the biggest stories this week is that Beeple has released all his Cinema 4D scene for anyone to download from his site, this mean that people like me and you can download and dissect the file to see how a certain effect was achieved or how he textured something.. If you use HDRI in Cinema 4D then zbyg has released some great HDRI’s for people to use, things like this are always handy to have, so go download them and use them to create some great looking stuff!

As usual Nick Vegas has produced some great tutorials and posts on his blog, and this week we have a screencast where  Nick talks about how to stay productive and create great work amongst other things and he’s also got a tutorial on sub polygon displacement in Cinema 4D. Go check them both out!

Tim Clapham has produced some great tutorials again on Hello Luxx.  His first tutorial is using Cloth in Cinema 4D and also how to slow it down.  If your a Cinema 4D user then it’s definitely worth checking out.
Tim’s second tutorial is a quick tip for After Effects on how to move templates from one installation to another.

Robert Leger

Another great tutorial from Robert Leger this week for Cinema 4D users, he shows you how he created the ‘Easter Egg: Reloaded Teaser’.  It’s definitely worth watching if your interested in learning what Cinema 4D can do.

AE Tuts

AE Tuts has also posted some great tutorials this week.  There’s a tutorial on how to create a 3D Samuri Chamber purely in After Effects.  Check out the preview below.

There’s also a tutorial on how to create a DIY Dolly, i know a dolly isn’t motion graphic specific but i know there’s lots of you out there that like to combine live action footage with graphics, and a dolly is something that will definitely make your shots look more professional.

Speaking of combining motion graphics and live action footage, Topher Welsh did a great round up of tracking and Matchmoving Tutorials on AE Tuts, this round up is definitely worth checking out wether you want to learn the technique or just need a refresher on tracking and matchmoving.

I you haven’t seen Red Giant People yet then go check it out now, an official  site from Red Giant it allows user of Red Giant’s software to share their presets with the rest of the motion graphics community! Go submit yours today or just browse the presets available!

I discovered this nice roundup of amazing showreel videos from Koi Koi Koi, the visual arts magazine this week, it’s a round up that was posted a number of months ago but it contains some links to some fantastic motion graphic and visual fx reels, definitely worth checking for inspiration

Perception NYC

Nick Campbell of GreyScale Gorilla posted a link to Perception NYC, the creators of the motion graphics for Iron Man 2.  Perception NYC have done a great breakdown of a lot of their graphics they did for Iron Man 2 and they look absolutely fantastic.  It’s definitely worth checking out for the ‘Awe’ factor.

Voxel Effect

Robert Legar posted a great a great voxel effect preset on the motion exchange this week.  If you’ve been wondering how to do this voxel effect then go and download the preset for Cinema 4D and get creating!

Finally, Adobe this past week announced a brand new version of the creative suite, with an announcement that the version of After Effects is to be 64 bit only and also features some new effects/tools in the form of Rotobrush to make it even easier to rotoscope in After Effects.

AE Scripts

Another great script from AE scipts this week. This script will duplicate an entire composition including all its sub comps. Something which should come in quite handy if you want to create a slightly different version of a composition.

Art of the Title

If you haven’t seen the Art of the Title blog before the it’s a great blog for checking out motion graphics on film title sequences.  This weeks post on Art of the title is for Zombieland. If you haven’t seen Zombieland’s title sequence either then it’s a great example of typography and motion graphics merged with lie action footage.  Go check out the interview and breakdown of the title sequence.
