Top tools for Final Cut Pro X #1 – Editoid

After a bit of a break on Motion Design Love (moving and renovating a house is time consuming and hard work!) we’re back and with a new series highlighting some of top tools you can get to make you life easier or better with Final Cut Pro X.

Introducing Editoid

Editoid has been created by Imageneering and is designed to work with Final Cut Pro X to allow you to use a pre exisiting project as a template. You can then select another event and have the template fill in your timeline automatically by the keywords used in the timeline and the keywords attached to the events clips.

Basically you take an existing project and export it’s xml into the apps in folder, take an event (that you will have already pre tagged with the keywords you will be using with the project template) into the other folder, open up the final cut project that has been generated and final cut will match the two together.

This looks pretty useful if your doing a series of videos that all have the same structure or timeline, this could essentially mean cutting down on your edit time if you use your keywords properly. They offer a trial version so you can try before you buy, so it’s definitely worth a download! Let us know how you get on with it!
