Great Motion Design Links Round Up 08/01/10

This is the first in a new series of posts, rounding up some of the best motion design links of the week.  We won’t be concentrating on any particular aspect of motion design, so we might feature a great video we’ve seen, a brilliant tutorial or possibly even a number of tweets from people. Hopefully you’ll get something out of each of the links and you won’t be able to wait till the next round up!  So here we go.

The Third and the Seventh

The Third & The Seventh from Alex Roman on Vimeo.

This video is absolutely stunning, and has been getting alot of view on Vimeo recently. Created by a guy call Alex Roman, the whole video is a visual fest in what CG can do, it was all done in 3DS Max, Vray, After Effects and Premiere.  I guarantee this video will make u go wow, and also make u very jealous.  Go to his vimeo page and watch in in HD and full screen.

Live Tutorial – 3D Text in Cinema 4D

A live tutorial from Nick Campbell of Greyscale Gorilla.  This is actually the second live tutorial Nick has done in recent weeks.  The concept is brilliant, instead of just a normal run of the mill tutorial, Nick brodcasts live on Ustream taking requests and questions from the viewers.

Live Tutorial – 3D Text in Cinema 4D from Nick Campbell on Vimeo.

The good thing about the live tutorials is that it shows an insight as to why you would choose to do something a certain way,  as well showing you how to do it.  This way you learn far more about Motion Design and Motion Graphics than just following a normal tutorial.  He’s planning on doing more as far as i’m aware so it’s worth keeping an eye on his twitter or ustream as he tends to do them randomly and often unscheduled.

The Motion Exchange

The Motion Exchange

The Motion Exchange is a new social network created by motion designer Harry Frank.  He set it up as a place for motion designers to get together, share ideas, find new contacts, join regional groups, get work and generally just discuss Motion Graphics with some of your peers.   The Motion Exchange currently has 1000 members after only being set up for a few months.  If your either a budding Motion Graphics Designer or currently a Motion Graphics Designer, then it’s definitely worth signing up.

That completes this weeks round up, check out the links, be inspired, learning something or just get connected Don’t forget to check back next week for the next round!
